Do you have high electricity bills or are you a commercial occupier or Landlord worried about the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) affecting your ability to let premises in future? Have your energy bills increased significantly with energy price rises and do you want to consider your options to reduce these?
80% of the existing UK housing stock needs upgrading to improve its energy performance. It is anticipated that all homes will need to be a minimum of EPC C by 2030 and the Future Homes Standard will be in place by 2025.
KIM have delivered a number of retrofit projects to improve insulation, switch to an all-electric heating system or install renewable energy sources.
KIM can help you to lower energy use, decarbonise your home and reduce your annual energy costs through a combination of improvements, heating calculations and air testing. We work with a number of specialist consultants and will bring together the relevant team members to ensure the optimal outcome for your project.
Energy efficient retrofit for residential private client - North Crawley
KIM worked with heating and plumbing engineers to design a new heating system to replace the original oil-fired boiler that had reached the end of its useful life in this 5 bedroom, detached home.
This included the design and installation of a new underfloor heating system and heating calculations to ensure the systems would provide adequate heat across the house. This was particularly important for this client who had specific health requirements.
KIM have delivered a number of disability adaptation projects on both residential and commercial properties. Please get in touch if you have specialist requirements.
EPC Improvement Works - retail premises
The occupier approached KIM prior to their lease renewal of a terraced building with an EPC F as they were not able to continue leasing the building due to the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) that came into force from June 2022.
KIM reviewed the EPC Recommendation Report, developed a Specification and then costed the works to provide a budget for the EPC improvement works. This was then shared with the Landlord and the Tenant used the budget cost to offer a lower purchase price for the building. This meant the Tenant had an idea of the likely cost of works if they were successful in purchasing the building and allowed them to put a Planned Maintenance Programme in place.
